Chicken Jail

The situation is mainly an EE picking on my bantam cochin and her 10 week old girls.

What kind of chicken do you have? If she hasn't improved after a week that makes me wander if I should even keep mine in the jail if its pointless.

I have a very snotty RIR. She is pecking and scaring the crap out of my new little silkie. She was put in jail yesterday and today, and today I added my young SLW and my ameraucana, who were also being snots to the newbies.

I thought I was the only one who had chicken jail, ha! I showed my husband this post, I'm not the only crazed chicken person around.

I hadn't thought of keeping them in longer than a day, but I'm going to try it if she isn't behaving herself after today.

What works better? Keeping them in the run in jail so all the others can see them, or should I move them out of sight of the others? Thinking it probably doesn't matter, but what do you think?

Chicken jail worked some for me, but what worked best was a squirt gun lol, yep a shot in the arse worked wonders and when my hen gets to chasing others away to get all the food she gets squirted and she backs off fast.

Do you know what I have found really weird???? SO the very first Rooster I had was evil. He was a killer. He had killed one other of my roosters in a fight, and had everything under is name. O I gave him to a man to cull, and the man told me a month later that he never killed the bird, he kept him, because he was like a little angel ever since he had gotten there on the property. Now he is the father to just about all of his chickens. And so i went to a frineds house and got a new rooster, who he warned me was mean, but I still to this day don't understand where mean is in that rooster, he is so nice and loving. So I suggest you take her to a new place for about a week and then bring her back. It's like the new scenery shocks them back from their devilish antics.

I don't want to hi jack your post, But I'm haveing trouble with 2 of them being bad. Thay are older and bigger roo and pulit that are bullying everyone. 1 Can jail work on roos And 2 can they both be in the same jail? Thanks John

I have my baddie in jail right now and I feel HORRIBLE. She's so sad!
She's being isolated so we can tell if she is indeed the one eating eggs, or if there might be another one doing the deed.

She's in a pretty large dog crate, has food & water & shade. I know she will not die, but I just feel so guilty. She's never been alone before. She has been kind of mean lately (since we introduced 2 new hens & the pecking order is not yet settled down) so maybe it will help with her attitude too...

Please tell me I'm not a big jerk!
