Why does one of my hens jump on another hens back, hold/bite the back of her neck and stay there?

Could the hen on top be a rooster? Sounds like mating to me.

How old are these chickens? It does sound like the mating ritual! Do you have a photo?

Deep tissue massage ,or chicken leap frog if im explaining to kids or folks with innocent notions towards the girls.
In truth it is the biggest or baddest stepping into the role of a rooster keeping the "girls" in line.

Sometimes hens will act like roosters and do rooster things, I had one hen that would crow!
