My two hens just ate basil seed they knocked off the plant. I googled toxicity of basil seeds and could not find much info. It is only listed as a skin irratant and possible carcigenic for humans. Nothing on pets or birds.

Are basil seeds toxic to birds? I think they may have been eating these seeds for a while, but I am not sure.

Thank You

I think you're fine. I just did a quick search and some people use the medicinally or make tea.

Imp- Hmmm Pesto chicken.

Maybe you will have basil plants growing around your yard in the spring!!

If the seeds survive the trip through the chicken's digestive system.

Mine pick the seeds off the plants--before then demolishing the plants. Greedy Boogers! They won't hurt them.
