A hen making a rooster noise sure is weird. Maybe the previous owners dumped them on your property? People also dump poultry at parks in NZ.

Welcome to the flock (the BYC)! What an awesome story. My dad always told me a chicken knows where to call home and looks lake Mabel has found a home. By the way she is a Rhode Island Red just like my Anabel. So good luck and God bless. We are here if you need any advice.
