Chicken Keeping Essentials!!!

I use Corid for coccidiosis in my flock. I have something called backyard chicken health pack, that has a wormer in it. I also use sav-a-chick probiotics and electrolytes.

Good bedding, and because it is free for me, I like it in the coop and in the run. I have bare spots in the run, but I have bedding in spots too. Keeps the flies down.

Good water, and good feed and really that is all.

Thanks guys. Some good points there. I think we will get the necessities and have a couple items in stock with the knowledge that there's a poultry shop a few miles up the road should we need anything in an emergency. We can't wait till they arrive. Kids are going crazy asking if it's today, is it today, will they be here today.....patients little ones these things take time

Chickens can teach one patience....or not. :gig

Nix the DE, won't do a darn thing.
Don't think y'all can get permethrin over there, but I keep both dust and spray on hand in case I find bugs during normal exams.
Best not to worm unless you have a fecal float done so you know what kind of worms you might need to treat.
Some kind of antibiotic ointment for wounds....same kind you'd use on humans.

Good feed, fresh plain water, and good shelter are the most important essentials.

You may be right from what I can see here permethrin seems so be a fabric spray for clothing?

Ah, I see what you mean.
Always good to find the real ingredients list and/or the MSDS to find out what all is in the product.
Might try asking in these UK threads the best thing to use for mites and lice:

Looks like the first one might be more active.

Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
Can really help avoid confusion.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Hi guys. So after searching for an antiseptic cream to keep in store for the 'incase moments' these seem to the the options avaliable in England.

Savlon - Active ingredient: Chlorhexidine Digluconate 0.1% w/w
1 gram of Savlon antiseptic cream contains 5 mg of cetrimide (0.5% w/w) and 1 mg of chlorhexidine digluconate (0.1% w/w) as the active ingredients.

Excipients with known effect:
Cetostearyl alcohol 10.00% w/w
Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) 0.01% w/w
Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) 0.01% w/w

Gemolene - Active ingredients: Phenol 1.2% & Chlorhexidine Digluconate 0.25%.

Brulidine - Active ingredient: dibrompropamidine isetionate 0.15%w/w.

It also contains Castor oil - virgin, Cetostearyl alcohol, Polyethylene glycol 600 monostearate, Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), Silicone MS Antifoam A, Purified water.

As alot of you people on this forum are American and use neosporin, we can't get that here in England. Do any of you have a lable of ingredients at hand so you can check to see if any of the ingredients are similar, or is there a pharmacist in here that can advise a little better.

Thanks for the advice in advance........ Currently on day 13 😂 so maybe a tad premature but would rather have things sorted in advance.

Whilst we're here and on a totally different topic...... Water - Apple Cider Vinegar and or garlic cloves. Can these be used together? ACV 7 days once a month and c garlic 2 days a week are what we planned once at correct age.

Anyone on here have any advice on use these methods?

Thanks... That's all...... FOR NOW

No need, nor benefit, for either.
Good, clean, fresh plain water is all they need.
But if you do use them, make sure there is plain water also available.
