One of my chickens has recently been wheezing and gasping for air. I noticed she had some sort of respiratory issue about 8 months ago, but it didn't seem to actually affect her health until recently. She used to just be very raspy when she made any noise, until about a week ago when it seemed to get a lot worse. Now whenever I see her she seem like she is having trouble breathing normally and she stretches her neck up every time she inhales. She also has been sneezing a lot. Whatever issue she has doesn't seem to be affecting any of my other hens at all. If anyone has any idea what the issue might be and how to treat it, please let me know.

What medicine u have ?
I would recommend doxycycline with neomycin in water for 7 days to 10 days
This combined meds work for mixed infections and deep seated infections

Otherwise u can use Baytril as well give the good results too

And in natural Fresh Ginger juice with lukewarm water helps in all
Respiratory issues and infection

I don't currently have any medicine. I do have ginger though.

I just posted a similar issue- would I get those meds from the vet or some place like TSC. If you can, please reply to my post. I assume I should wait to start other meds? Don’t mean to take away from this post, hopefully the two posts combined help us both.

Can you get a video of her?

UPload video to YouTUBE and provide a link.

Any obstructions inside the beak, any lesions like canker or yellow/pasty material?
Crop emptying?
When was her last egg - any issues with laying or any fluid or bloat in the abdomen?
Nares (Nostrils) clear of debris?
Any mucous, facial swelling, bubbles in the eyes?

It's been an ongoing issue for about 8months, so if it is respiratory disease, it's a slow one. Likely something else going on.

I can't upload a video but I got a couple of pictures. In the past few hours she's gotten a lot worse. Her comb wasn't purple before today. She was eating and laying eggs earlier this week but she hasn't laid any in the past three days and she hasn't been eating very much. I do not see any lesions, yellow stuff, canker, or anything else in her mouth or throat.

Poor girl!
She's struggling isn't she:(

Not sure what's happening with her. Her comb going dark, she's lacking oxygen.

Just in case, feel all over her body to make sure there's not something that feels like Air under the skin. Doubtful it's a rupture air sac, but I'd try to rule that out. Photo below of where the 9 air sacs are located on the body.

You can try giving an antibiotic like Tylan to see if that helps. I would also consider deworming as well.

You may still be able to find Tylan50 at TSC. Dose is 0.25ml per pound of weight given orally 3 times a day for 5 days.

Safeguard liquid goat dewormer for worming. Dose is 0.25ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days.

I just thoroughly checked her whole body and I don't feel anything out of the ordinary like a ruptured air sack. I've been putting electrolytes in her water and I'll definitely try and get some dewormer and Tylan50 for her this afternoon if I can. Thank you so much for your help.
