Chicken keeps pecking other chickens and they are getting hurt

I can't remember which Thread I found, but I wrote down the info. Peppers don't work for most chickens, stop them from pecking, but a product called Bumpa-Bits does. You can't get them here, but Joe found a way ordered 500 and he is charging a reasonable amount for those who are having a problem with a feather picker or aggression. A great solution for those who love their chickens and don't want to get rid of the culprit! Here is his number Joe 303-663-7115. When I have time, getting ready to leave house, I will post the Thread. It's something like For Those Who Free Range chicken stories.

Lucy, the injured chicken is actjally doing well. However, the other two younger chickens were also attacked by the same culprit. One, sadly was gone before I coujld do anything. The other had a small injury at the back of her neck area. I have set up something separate inside the coop. This same chicken, an Americana, would not let the other chickens eat. I had to give separate food where they were hiding. Even after a month of living together.when I gave them food last night, Gretel, the evil chicken, went after them. I kept her away hile they ate and thought it was done with. This afternoon is when I found the one dead chicken and injured other. Why does she keep doing this?? I am sad and frustrated.

i have some advice buy anti pecking spray that should prevent them from pecking each other but remember don't let the spray get into the chickens beak or it could be poisonous!

I have a Americana, actually two of them, one is on the top of the pecking order and the other is lower, but she also can be aggressive. They ganged up on one of my other chickens causing some injury, but I was home so I took out the one who was hurt and treated her. She probably got ganged up on because she tends to try to assert herself by displaying and the Americana got sick of it. I kept her in another coop then introduced her back after a few days when they free range, but I was supervising. The Americana and others still didn't appreciate her being there and I had to continually intervene. I have five chickens. Eventually they can now free range together, but it took weeks, without me worrying about an attack, but she sleeps in the other coop with my Asterlop who is dominate, but mellow about it. They both go to the other coop at night to sleep together. The other three sleep in the other coop. Back to the Americana who is aggressive. She isn't my favorite along with the other one they seem to have a personality that starts fights. My Americana always wants to snuggle with my favorite chicken Penny at night and pecks her until she settles down. Penny tolerates it and doesn't seem to suffer from it, but I am close to getting rid of both of them if they draw blood again. It seems like your situation is much more extreme if it was me I would give her away. She might do better with another group of chickens. I also would try to scope out a Avian vet for your poor little hurt chicken. I took one of mine in and was glad I did! I probably won't be getting this breed again (Americana's)!

Know how you feel! Hope she makes it!
