hi y'all. so i looked for something similar to my question but no luck, we (like everyone else) have those little tiny wild birds in our yard and one somehow wiggled its way through the chicken wire into the coop and our copper head maran attacked it and i think they all ate it.... ive seen her try and attack them/scare them when they are close to the coop cause she is the biggest of all my chickens but i never thought she would kill one

has this ever happened to anyone else??
is this normal like territorial stuff?

A few of my hens, when they're free ranging, will chase wild birds away -- I'm not sure what they would do if one made its way into the coop, but I don't think they would be giving it a warm welcome. I'm guessing it's normal territorial behavior...maybe someone else has first-hand experience with this?

I had to rescue a small, green Garter snake from our girls a few days ago. They busted it up pretty bad, but it did live. They also chase the Chipmunks when we let them free-range...

It's been said here before but it needs to be said again. Chickens will kill and eat anything. If you value your life don't fall asleep in your chicken coop.
LOL!

Sometimes i let my chickens eat out of my hand. And sometimes I wonder if they are sick of the corn and intentionally trying to get something with a little more protein.
