Chicken Killer

Sounds like a hawk. They leave piles of feathers. If it was a four legged predator it would leave a trail, if it was a fox there would be no feathers.
Foxes do leave feathers. Tons of them. I had a flock of 6 and a fox got in. The whole run was just FEATHERS, saw the fox run under a hole in the run when I came out with a chicken in his mouth
 
Sometimes they leave feathers, sometimes they don't. There's no set in stone way any particular predator may act. Much depends on the fox's skill at capturing prey, hunger level, how many birds and what size they are, and where they are taken from.
