I live in Oklahoma, and we've been having a lot of warm, cloudy days lately. Whenever that happens, my (now) 2 year old Golden Sex Link named Maggie Mae has issues laying. She was egg bound twice during a very long bout of snow last year where we only had densely cloud covered skies for days. We're been expecting storms here for over a week, so we're experiencing the same lack of sunlight. Maggie laid the white of the egg. Then, she laid the yolk. No shell at all. No membrane at all. She also looked "puffed up". This afternoon, she looked normal. When we went out to sit with them right before bed, she looked like she was twice as big as her sisters. She wasn't waddling or squatting like when she was egg bound, but she was walking strangely. What's going on with her? Yesterday, she laid a tiny egg - like a Robin's egg. Today, she laid a double yolker. She does that sometimes. She will lay an egg not much larger than a quarter. Then, she will lay a massive egg either the same day or the next. She's ALWAYS had issues.
