So I have three Warren hens, all the same age, one (approximately 18weeks) started laying four days ago, she made me very proud having these tiny little eggs
it was an exciting moment.
That exciting that I put a camera in the coop to be sure who it was, I guessed correctly and it’s was my favourite sweetest little girl (Khloe, pictured) i know you shouldn’t have favourites but it’s hard not to.
So long as I don’t tell the others we should be fine.
These girls only get locked up at night after taking themselves to roost- and free roam through the day when someone’s is home to supervise- I’ll make another post on that issue later!
But the first egg was so small and still warm I was surprised to see it (even though that’s what chickens do??)
She’s laid one a day since, we have had 4 so far.
One of my other hens started with the chicken squat approximately 5 days after Khloe did (Lucee) and big red the third still hasn’t started to.
I’m curious as to ;
When the others may start?
And how long on average does it take for these small eggs to become large?
Pictures to show my babies and one of those cute little eggies
The nest box usually has more in, and it’s usually not hay but thanks to covid, we’ve been struggling to get supplies and have had to make do with alternatives.
