Went to get eggs today and one egg was about as big as 3 with no shell. Picked up mess and threw it out of nest and there was also a cartilage type bone about 2 x 2 inch. Similar to an after birth in mammals but had this hard cartilage in it. Is it possible this chicken is quiting laying and got rid of something or maybe just a quick and she found and old bone and carried back to the nest. Looks like new still fresh and moist cartilage. All birds look and act fine.

Pictures would help. A double yolker egg is sometimes common in a new layer. Don't know what the boe like object was--maybe a bone that a bird dropped flying over that was snapped up by the hen? We see some curled egg membranes occasionally passed by hens, and sometimes lash eggs that can be strange looking.

Chicken was either 2 year old or 5 year old. Whatever it was they ate it haha. That's a chicken. Only one yolk but it was a huge mass. I think from my jersey giant.
