In the last few days I been hanging with my peeps alot. ( I know .. bad pun)
I have 2 little females that love to come up and sit on me and just preen and then doze a while. The smallest one.. I call her Omelette..She looks up at me with her head kinda cocked one way then does this.. hmmm.. not sure how to explain that.. like a Trlrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrlr sound.. Allmost like a purr but very high pitched .. Very odd. And then does the peep peep thing.. what is she saying?
And then they look at me all the time..Not sure why.. allways one eye all the time. Not sure if they asking me something or waiting for me to go bawk bawk at them? lol
Anyone ever got explained or know what they doing or saying? I like to believe they are content or are talking to me. They have alot of different sounds they make.. I know my Roo gets upset when i put my hand on his back. I can tell he isnt amused at all..The females dont care.
Since I started this chicken hobby..I must say..I have not had one second where I had any regrets about it.They are just so neat to watch and feed .The best part is when they trust you so much allready after 3 weeks that they would sit on you and sleep.. even on their side with their ugly knarly feet sticking out..
I had them freeranging now for a week. They dont run off .. They go for their midday nap back into their coop and then go back out til sundown. I was concernd they would run off but they are good staying on our place. They know where is a safe place at night.. so that is good.
I also modified their coo pa bit..The lid was solid wood so I inserted a piece of plexi glas as a window .. attached a solar powered light to it and now at night they can see a little and not dump their water over anymore like they did in the dark all the time. The ligh is really dim but enough light so they can see.
Only thing is I ended up having 2 Roo`s and 2 hens instead of 1 Roo and 3 Hens .So one has to go back soon before they start fighting each other.
Ahh I better stop.. not sure why this got so long and kinda off course..sorry
So.. who knoes chicken lingo? care to explain ?
