Chicken laying 2x a day

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Young pullets are still maturing and their egg laying machines are not yet in sync. Her body is sending out 2 yolks a day instead of one. It may be just her age and she will grow out of it or can be a sign of a future internal layer. Be careful with protein (like extra treats...meal worms, scrambled eggs, meat scraps) high protein foods stimulate the yolk releasing. Keep an eye on her and hopefully she out grows it. And make sure she is getting plenty of Oyster Shell, she needs a lot of extra calcium for hard shells.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

Some say chickens have X number of eggs in their lifetime to lay.
It's true. Same goes for women. Women are born with all the eggs they will ever release. The best ones are produced in her 20s. That is why there is a higher risk of trisomy babies and other defects when a woman becomes pregnant later in life. Those eggs aren't as viable as the eggs that were released during her prime childbearing years.
