Chicken laying green eggs with pink spots

Thank you! When I got my first chicks a year ago I became obsessed... like everyone else here. I wanted a flock with a variety of feather color and then when they started laying I found the eggs to be such beautiful objects I wanted to have a variety of them as well. It is a great instructional moment because most people think white and brown, like they get at the store, are the only options... they are amazed to see a range of colors. I have several people that want extras for Easter--- to hard boil and put out on the table. Next month I am getting 18 chicks--- among them Welsummers and more EE's so I will be hoping for some nice terra cotta eggs and more blue/green in the fall

I have a Black orpington/Cream Legbar cross that lays khaki green eggs with pinkish brown flecks. Really unusual.

I was in a Fresh Market store in SC and they actually sell blue and dark brown eggs in packs of 6. The labels listed the breed of chicken that laid them. - Maran and Ameraucana. They were pretty pricey too. The odd thing is, my husband thought of doing this before we even saw it in the store. I poo-poo'd his idea but I guess I was wrong. I have been particular in the breeds so we can have a nice colorful mix for customers in the near future. I find it all so miraculous. If I had one that layed pink with green I would be ecstatic!

I was estatic too. Very pretty eggs. The pink spots didn't last long. About a month was all. The hen are back to laying blue now. I still like the blue though. Yep we have been selling all our surplus eggs eggs this year in our cartons of mixed eggs.
