Hey all,

Can you see anything wrong with this chick's left foot? (right side of photo) She's about 6 weeks old, I just noticed the limp today. I'm guessing that she injured it somehow, she's the only chick with the flock right now (being raised by a broody hen).

I don't have any experience with bumblefoot - identifying or treating it. I can't see anything unusual.

When holding her, the injured foot has very little tone, like the toes are limp noodles. And when she's walking that's what it looks like, like she's dragging limp toes around. Could it be something else?

Thanks for your help chicken friends!

I don't immediately see any type of bumblefoot or abrasions to the foot.

What do you feed, including treats?

She may have sprained or injured the foot somehow. I'd think about starting her on B-Complex to give a bit of extra vitamin support. Give 1/4 tablet daily.

Thanks for the feedback! I have been feeding Purina start & grow medicated. A small amount of black soldier fly larvae. I do have concerns about this chicks nutrition - as she free ranges with the flock and eats lots of things in the yard. Not sure how much feed she eats.

I am raising 7 other chicks by hand and they are noticeably larger, despite being a week younger. They don’t get to free range so they eat lots of feed.

I have some Poultry Cell, do you think that might have enough B vitamins? I will add some to a waterer tomorrow. I haven’t had a lot of luck with getting chickens to eat pills.

If she's free ranging with the flock and you're providing her with chick starter free choice, she's likely getting plenty enough to eat.

She's probably a bit smaller/thinner because she's active and not confined to a brooder/being raised by hand and eating just chicken feed all day.

Poultry Cell sounds good.
