Hi,

Recently one of my newer chickens Kiwi, has started limping. I checked for injuries or bumblefoot and haven’t found anything. She’s young. She’s hasn’t even started laying yet. She does have these green spots on her and I’m wondering if these are anything of concern? Any ideas as to why she’s limping? Thanks in advance!

The green spots are bruises she must have hit her leg on something or got it caught.
That’s what I read online too, so thanks for confirming! However, it’s been a few weeks now of her limping. Those are on both legs and I think it’s her left leg that she’s still not putting weight on.

Does she put her leg down trying to put weight on it or hold it up? Could she be pecking it herself or have you seen others peck it? A video of her walking uploaded to YouTube or a similar site with a link posted here might help.

She tries to walk on it, I can tell it’s causing her pain though. It’s possible she was pecked. She was new to the flock this year but she seems established enough now and I haven’t seen anybody pecking each other. I will try to get a video tomorrow.

Ok sorry for the delay, here’s the video. And also notice how she’s off sitting by herself while the rest of the flock greeted me at the fence.

I can’t tell much, but it may be an injury. I would watch her. Human vitamin B complex 1/2 tablet a day might help some if given in a little snack or food. Let us know if it seems worse. How high are the roosts?

Ok, thank you. I feel likes it’s been coming and going in waves of worse to better for the last couple weeks. I’m just hoping it’s nothing serious. She’s so young and the other two babies are so healthy. The lowest roosts are only a couple feet off the ground.
