Chicken Litter Options?????

hi all,
for the chicken litter is there anything else you can use other than the store bought kind? Anyone have any thoughts on sawdust or shredded paper? Thanks, u guys are the best!

we use leaves ............ run thru a shredder ......... works great! ....... and they are free
