Hi,

My 4 year old White Leghorn x New Hampshire is suddenly acting weird. She has her neck tucked in, her tail is dropping slightly, she's loosing some appetite, she's less active and her comb has gone a bit pale and floppy. I do live in Australia and so it's summer and beginning to get hot but my chooks have never done anything like this and they have water 24/7. Also, is her beak a bit overgrown? Any ideas?
Her now:

Her normally:

Thanks.

A floppy comb usually indicates they aren't feeling well. As does ruffling feathers and pulling in the neck. I would isolate her, watch her poop, monitor her eating and drinking, listen to her breathing. I would give her some vitamins and see if it perks her up.
