Recently my chicken Nickel has been in the house for the past couple of weeks. I dewormed her thinking she had worms and that wasn’t the case so I read some more and found out she might have an impacted crop with a yeast infection. I treated the I infections with Nystatin and it went away but recently she has lost some weight. In 5 days she has lost a little less then a 1/4 lb. she was already 2 lbs when she came up bc of the impacted crop and the yeast infection. Almost every night I’ve tried to massage her crop to get everything moving and it’s empties very well and she goes to sleep nice and full but there is something hard in her crop that won’t brake or get moved through her digestive track and I think that’s what is causing her to have an impaction every night. I’m just at a standstill of what I should do. Any suggestions?
I’ve read places that you can slice their crop open and remove the blockage but that seems a bit out of my comfort zone

How many days did you treat her with the Nystatin? Is her crop emptying well overnight except for the one nugget that won’t pass? How large is it? Is it hard or more doughy?

As far as nutrition, how well is she eating? How does her poop look? Might she be depressed from missing her flock? Can you work on re-integrating her or bringing a friend to see her? Or let her have supervised visits during the day?

Sorry about all the questions, but your answers might help us help you.

I treated her 2x a day for 7 days. Her crop doesn’t seem to empty well at night including the nugget. The nugget is probably a little bigger than a corn kernel but it has some string grass like things attached to it. I tried supervised visits and one of the hens attached her. I’ve just been putting her in a little grass pen during the day. She seems happy being outside by herself. I think she was at the bottom of the chain bc of her size. Her poop is kind of solid. It’s not as solid as a normal poop. ( I did post pictures of it). She eats a lot through out the day. Prolly a 1/4 cup or so with a fruit and some coconut oil here and there. Her crop right before bed is more of a dough like consistency and I feed her some coconut oil and massage her crop to get things moving be she heads to bed. I’m kind of at a stand still of what to do.
