At this stage, in my opinion, I would watch your back for fear of being challenged. Let him get his role and respect for you and your role squared away. You don't want to be seen as a threat or competition.

This might not be a good thing moving forward. If you want pets, often times a rooster growing up in that has no fears of humans, and will become more and more aggressive. Be very aware of him, come up with plan B if this gets worse.
