I live in rural Pa in the southcentral part of the state. My oldest and younger sister got me into to chickens as they started with them first. 4 years ago I got my first chickens as a birthday gift. I have had chickens ever since.
I have a mixed flock of chickens at the moment. 1 adult isa red female. I have 6 2 week old chicks:
2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 barnavelders, 1 barred rock and 1 brahma. I love brown egg layers, heritage dual purpose breeds.
I used to have austrolorps, golden laced Wyandottes and an Americana. They passed this past year. I let them free range about 50% of the time and are cooped at night as I have Coyotes, bear and bald eagles in the area, and an occasional neighbors loose dog.
I also garden: vegetables, strawberries, black and red raspberries and flower. I compost the chicken coop poop and let them loose in the veggie garden when it's done.
I love my chickens. Each one has it's own personality and bring me and my family much joy.

We are glad you joined this flock!
Best wishes and have lots of fun!
