Hi everyone my name is Maxine I live in England. We’ve had chickens for about 8 years and we currently have 16. They free range during the day on about 1/4 acre.
1 buff Orpington, 1 ex commercial rescue, 1 frizzle Cochin, 3 silkies, 2 pekins, 1 frizzle Pekin, 2 polish, 4 frizzle polish and 1that is a frizzle Pekin polish cross.
The problem is that Snowy our little white frizzle Pekin has started crowing so I guess we’ve been wrongly sold a rooster and has started walking backwards.
I googled it and read it could be a vitamin E and selenium deficiency. We are giving him vitamin supplements plus tuna, sunflower seed and egg. Does this ever get better? Has anyone had experience of this? I’m worried he won’t get enough to eat as he goes to the food then starts walking backwards. He’s not exhibiting any rooster behaviour either, he seems to be at the bottom of the pecking order.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So sorry about your boy. :hugs Walking backwards, falling over or star gazing is usually neurological and vitamins can definitely help, not only Vitamin E and Selenium but the B vitamins as well. You might use a poultry supplement especially made for birds. Do you have something called Poultry Cell there? It's a wonderful supplement that has all birds need and more. Good luck with your boy.
