I've made some observations about the chicken lovin going on........

Big Red (Our RIR rooster) won't let Buttercup finish the deed - he knocks him right off whatever girl he tries to love

Big Red won't let Blacky the Silver Penciled Wyandotte anywhere near a hen and now Blacky keeps off to himself

Big Red loves Midge the Silver Grey Dorking the most

Big Red pulls out a lot of feathers when he bites the girls on the neck but Buttercup doesn't

Chicken Lovin is really fast, like wham bam thank you mam fast!!!!!

Glad I'm not a chicken!

I'm lucky that the last 4 Rooster aren't fighting really bad. They have a definitive pecking order, but two need to go and I can't decide who it will be. I'm gonna leave them be until a fight breaks out. Then decide......Butter is staying he's hubby's favorite and the most randy roo we have, I like the way Blacky looks. Maybe Buffy the Orpington can come for dinner, or maybe I'll just make an addition for the two extra roos....

Our roo didn't get lucky until last night. DH said Daisy Mae is a slut 'cause she laid down before Hef was even headed her way. None of the other girls have let him get too close. We won't be having chicks any time soon, though, since Hef was way off the mark. But that's fine because our girls are young and we've yet to get our first egg!

Dh apparently laughed himself silly watching the birds last night....

Interesting observations! We have a polish crested that we thought was a hen, until my 6 year old daughter came in saying "Dizzy was jumping up and down on top of a Red's back!" Uh..wasn't sure how to explain that one to her!

Haaaa Haa ha...that's funny....we have one too, her name is Darla, she squats for my hubby and Butter, and Big Red......she's a Silver Grey Phoenix and she used to be Butter's girl, because they're both small and matured fasture than Big Red, but now that he's all grown up he stole her from Butter.

Our's are 18 weeks old and I got our first three eggs this week in the last two days, 1 small one from the Pheonix and two large ones from a nameless Barnvelder.

I'm really hoping that DAisy's receptiveness to the roo means she's getting close to laying. One of our buffs has suddenly gotten bigger redder combs, so we have our fingers crossed that SOMEONE wil give us an egg soon. They are 20 weeks old this weekend.

I knew my Phoenix and one of the black sex links were getting ready to lay because they got very chatty and noisy. They're combs did get red before the others too. It almost seem to happen in one week, combs got dark, they got loud, Roo's mounted, and eggs in the boxes, in just a matter of days.
