hi i was wondering what do you guys do with chicken manure? i heard that you cant directly give it to the plants because it is too strong. I know you can start a compost bin but i was wondering what are some other options for managing chicken manure.

I use it and the wood chips in all my flower beads and don't have a problem, and the chips keep weeds down hold in water and keep ground at a more stable temp. Good to cover bulbs with after the flowers die off in the winter

I compost it a bit and put it in the veggie garden:) fresh it would be too "hot" for sure. If you aren't able to deal with the quantity you have you could put an ad on craigslist as free fertilizer. I'm sure it would get taken off your hands:)

I haven't managed to kill anything with it yet. I mulch around trees and shrubs with spent litter. I put heaps of it in the garden after the season ended last year and just gave the soil a stir a few times in the weeks before spring planting. So many earthworms in there! The asparagus is ridiculous. I had a few as big around as my thumb and a good 12" tall with a tight tip. I mulched the strawberries with it last fall and followed up with a few waterings of dirty aquarium water. I've never seen such production and zero chemical fertilizer.
