Ok I am curious on how many chicken I actually have here. I read the featured article "Chicken Math 101" but couldn't pass the exam.

We have 16 layers... 4 Sumatra Hens(18 months old), and a Feral hen who lives and lays here as well.
That makes 5 right?

Then come the silkies we have 15 of those but 4 are cockerels. As they are all bantams they count as halfs right? Since only 11 can lay an egg that must be 5.5 chicken, right?

I am sure the 5 1 week old silkie hatchlings cant even make up 0.01 of a chicken so those are free.

So I think the right answer is I have 10 chicken as you never round up.

I’m not quite sure you got the gist of the way it works...or perhaps I’m wayyyy off...it means that you start with 3 birds, and then get 2 more to be layers but throw one in for you daughter so you have to get one for your sone, then next you get five because they were a good deal so why not get ten.... at least...that’s the way I read it to be...the numbers keep growing by justifying it for reasons only you can justify. Am I right everyone? Or even close?

:oldWe need more information. Specifically, what are their names?
Ok for names and this will be hard every Sumatra is named, there is Red, BB, Hildy, and Polly. The feral is Peggy Sue. For the squirts they have loads of names David, Iggy and Sid are the frizzled silkies. For all of the other silkie names you need my wifes input.

Perhaps you need to re-read Proof #6.”Named chickens do not count”.
