Chicken Math Subtraction, or, My First Solo Processing

Good job Rachel! Thanks for posting pics. New chicken keepers have no idea what a dual purpose bird looks like butchered. The 1st few I butchered were the hardest. No experience and no one to really advise me. OH MY! The stories I could tell. I like the cone idea. Saves the bird from running around the yard headless.....oh, yea, and the stories the neighbors could tell!

Blooie, Thank your husband for his service for me, and I thank you for your forebearance of same for 26 years! I was Army (enlisted) ...... and it's where i get my DIY streak: I found in the real, combat arms field Army, that if you delegated troopies/ material or requested support from more than 1 level, above or below, from yourself, half the resources involved would be wasted or stolen ......

My Eldest Daughter is in her second year at the United States Naval Acadmy ....going Marine Aviation (says Marines are "BETTER PEOPLE" .....

Thank you all! The "subtraction" was a nod to aart, who points out regularly there needs to be subtraction as well as the famous chicken math addition. Jan's taking it to a whole new level, though!

Mrs K had mentioned once how processing her own birds made her feel like a pioneer woman. I sure understand that now! It just mad me feel so good. I'll rest him for another day or two, then decide how to cook him up. I'm thinking since I plucked, I should do something that gives nice crispy skin....
