Chicken math - To trade or not to trade.

I think that when she's integrated, you'll be glad you have her! However, hind sight being 20/20, you might wish you had put her in quarantine for at least 2 weeks, and most often recommended, 4 weeks. At the very least, it might not be a bad idea to dust her for mites just to be on the safe side. I know she came from a friend, and you most likely know the history of your friend's flock (did she start all birds at the same time as chicks, or has she added adult birds over time? ) Any time birds, and especially adult birds, are added from an other source, there's risk of bringing in disease, even if the new bird(s) appear perfectly healthy at the time. The stress of the move can make a latent disease become active.

Well it was all for nothing. Not 15 minutes after getting her home after the trade, my neighbor knocked on my door wanting to trade back. Her hens didn't like the new one she said, it was just too stressful. Oh well :(

Thanks everyone for your input!
