How many did you initially plan on having?

How many do you have now?

Any plans for 2012?


Curious minds want to know!

3 hens and a rooster was my initial plan.

I was quickly infected with chickenmathitis and now, about 10 months later, I have 2 pens, 2 roosters, 15 hens an a chick my silkie hatched.

I regularly check craigs list, you know, just in case something shows up I didn't even know I couldn't live without.

No plans for 2012. I am happy with my flock as it is now. But you never know.

I originally wanted 6-8 hens and absolutely no rooster.

Now I have 16 with one of them being a roo.

Plans for 2012 to try and hatch a few....

Didn't know what I was getting myself into.

Figured about 10 would be plenty, started with 5.

We have about 70.

this year we will butcher some of the ones we don't care for (like the Blackstars) and try some new breeds.

I originally planned on about 15-20
Right now I have 31 and about 10 more in the bator. I am also planning on putting in another chickie order for spring

How many did you initially plan on having? 2 years ago: Started with 5 innocent little chicks from feed store, but 2 turned into roosters (our alpha rooster "Lady" was supposed to be a hen). Rather than kill a rooster, I got more girls to correct the ratio.

How many do you have now? 40 and 10 turkeys

Any plans for 2012? Not ordering anymore hatchery birds. Breeding my 4 (ok, I lied ... 5) lovely roosters to produce freezers full of delicious homegrown meat. Also keeping a breeding trio of turkeys. Oh, and expanding the chicken yard .... again!

I planned on 12 chickens and within the first summer surpassed that! We have about 30 chickens, 30 ducks and 8 turkeys.

Plans for 2012... Kids want to show so we are looking for breeder quality wyanndottes, Cochins and silkies. (have some in the silkie and BLRW and our ducks look pretty good). We also already have eggs in the incubator.

How many do you have now? 31 but it goes up and down every time I hatch out more chicks lol.

I started out only wanting 2 until Spring. Ended up with 4. Lost one so now i'm down to 3. And I have 26 hen chicks on their way in February. Plan for 2012- have atleast one roo so I can start hatching my own chickies!

I originally wanted roughly a dozen. Well, I have 16 now and 33 on the way...
