after being a lurker for a few years, I picked up my pullets today.
I was going with 4 Australorps, but they had sold out. :(
soI ended up with 1 Australorp, 2 Cuckoo Marans, and an Ameraucana.
The Ameraucana is such a sweet girl, but the CM pick on her... I guess they have to establish the pecking order, and she appears to be a few weeks younger.
On to chicken math, we have a friend that is hatching out some bantam RIR for her home school science class, and wants us to take the hens when they reach 4 weeks. They are from good bloodlines :)
Glad I built my coop and run a lot bigger than I needed.

Hi and welcome to BYC. Congrats on your new flock. Yup, chicken maths gets to us all, so you certainly did the right thing by building a large coop!

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

Mixing new chicks with older ones can sometimes be a problem. The best way to integrate is the "Look but don't touch," method. If you put that in the search it should come up.

Welcome!

As you have already received some good advice and links, I will just send best wishes to your and flock.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
