after being a lurker for a few years, I picked up my pullets today.
I was going with 4 Australorps, but they had sold out. :(
soI ended up with 1 Australorp, 2 Cuckoo Marans, and an Ameraucana.
The Ameraucana is such a sweet girl, but the CM pick on her... I guess they have to establish the pecking order, and she appears to be a few weeks younger.
On to chicken math, we have a friend that is hatching out some bantam RIR for her home school science class, and wants us to take the hens when they reach 4 weeks. They are from good bloodlines :)
Glad I built my coop and run a lot bigger than I needed.

Hi and welcome to BYC. Congrats on your new flock. Yup, chicken maths gets to us all, so you certainly did the right thing by building a large coop!

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area -

    All the best

[IMG] Mixing new chicks with older ones can sometimes be a problem. The best way to integrate is the "Look but don't touch," method. If you put that in the search it should come up.
