Chicken math?

Thanks so much! I'm for sure doing the coop 10x10 if not bigger but going to check fencing prices and try to do as big as our budget can allow. So much I want to do....so little funds :) sigh. Does everyone just go to tractor supply for fencing or is there a secret fencing place for cheaper? Tractor supply can get pricey!!

Quote: It won't cost much more to make it 12 X 12, and will save some cuts if you're using any materials that comes in 4 X 8 sheets.

8 X 12 would also take fewer cuts than 10 X 10

Thanks! I'm sure my hubby would of thought of that ;) I'm the planner he is my carpenter lol I'm hoping to use mostly rehabbed barn wood (my granddad just built a new one) and my brother in law is a contractor so I have him collecting old windows doors and metal roofing. So fingers crossed I just need fencing but hey I'm on the look out for that too

If chicken math really catches up with you, you can easily do more than 30 chickens if you free range 90% or more of the time.(that's just an estimate)

We have 60 chickens in a 6x12 coop(That's just over 1sq ft/chicken). A run that is 13'x32'(About 400sq ft or 7.5sq ft/chicken). They're confined to the coop and run about 5-10 days of the year.

There are no pecking problems, etc.

The possibilities are nearly endless. Have fun!!

Thanks! Math is such a four letter word!!!! Lol I just didn't want my inability to do math to cause harm or discomfort to my animals.
