Now I don't feel so bad, after reading this...... I wanted 5 hens ..... have only 9 thus far ...... I can handle it, I tell you!!!!11111111!

Tis a slippery slope indeed.... I do think we will be seeing a few more added to your 9.....

The trick is to keep a flock that isn't just one or two of each breed - that makes it too easy for the new birds to stand out and be noticed, think "blending" - so all one breed/color, or at least large groups of one breed/color.....or locate your coop a good distance away so counting, picking out individuals, etc is harder

Sometimes I wish I only had 9. My feed bill would be so small! Then I see a breed I want and I cant just have 1. Have to have lots.

I just contacted a breeder about white aseel hatching eggs. I'M on a waiting list for Saipan and I have a pending order for broilers from welp. And I got another goose egg today. I'm gonna be in sooooo much trouble when my wife finds out

And the trouble with this addiction, as opposed to, say, reloading your own ammo, or gun collecting ........ you can put those things on hold ....... walk away for 3 months, then pick up where you left off....... my reloading press does not angrily squawk at me if I'm 30 minutes late out of bed in the AM.......... even my garden could be neglected for days at a time if work got too hectic......
