I might of accidentally added 2 barred rocks today... My husband wasn't too pleased. We are now up to 11.

I'll be waiting to hear about numbers 19 and 20 next week! Lol

So I am having a time keeping my CornishXs alive. Not sure why. Decided to put an ad on our local website for Jersey Giants thinking that it may take awhile for someone to see it. Got a call today from a guy who is getting out of Giants. He has a pair of adults, 5 3 week old chicks and 11 eggs in the bator to hatch on the 20th. Chicken Math - told him I would buy them all. Going to hatch my own meat chickens.

Haha I love it!! You'll love the Jerseys. My girl is huge and only at 14 weeks. They sure do eat a lot though. Not sure if it's worth it if you work out the cost per pound of meat you get but they're really great docile chickens.

I have a nasty little feeling that I will fall in love with them and not want to really raise them for meat. I have not even seen them yet but was told the are blue black in color and I am liking that already. I dont have hardly have any black chickens except for silkies.

I agree, it's hard to butcher a pretty chicken. I love the way Jersey's look. Maybe one day I'll get a rooster

Yes thats true, that why I have so many chickens. Too pretty. I did sell most of my adult silkies this year but added a bunch of chicks. Traded silkies for Chantecler chicks. Chicken Math at its finest!

Tell me about it lol. Funny, I sold off most of my silkies too. I only have 1 white silkie pair and a black silkie hen left. Had a buff silkie rooster but the dog sadly got to him

I got rid of 15 of my birds only to a month later add multiple other breeds. BBS Ameraucanas, BBS Marans, Welsummers, and Rhodebars. And yes, I will be setting up breeding pens for them these actually are quality stock and not hatchery stock. It was nice buying from a real breeder.

Now I don't feel so bad, after reading this...... I wanted 5 hens ..... have only 9 thus far ...... I can handle it, I tell you!!!!11111111!

20 is the limit in my city and my husband said he's putting his foot down after today... We will see...
