I have owned my chickens about 17 weeks now! We purchased all of our chicks through the local farm stores who I have now come to the conclusion that they have no idea what they are selling and some have been miss marked/labeled. Even to the point of actually knowing how old they are!
So I am estimating that the girls around closer to 18-20 weeks and it is a hustle to get nesting boxes ready for eggs! BYC has been an amazing resource that I love! But unfortunately I cannot actually tell what breed of chickens I have, as I have finally given up my guessing!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. So here is the list of what I thought we were purchasing (Somehow I did not get a single Rooster):
4 Jersey giants - they are the same size as the rest of my girls so not to sure
3 Americaunas (I think they are actually a cross breed closer known easter egger)
2 Production reds - Rhode Island Red, maybe?
2 Barred Rock - they are definitely not barred rock
My "Jersey Giants" and non"Barred Rock" all look similar, with some brownish/red feathers under the black feathers on their neck only and they all also have an iridescent coloring to their feathers.
