We have had chickens for a year now. We've had some bumps along the way, but we love the girls! We have 5 backyard hens. Blue copper maran, 2 EEs, Lavender Orpington, and a Lavender Ameraucana. My favorite hen was a Silver Leghorn that we lost to bumblefoot that didn't respond to any of the treatments we tried. We were very sad for her loss. The hardest part is all of the local vets being unwilling to see us or give guidance (even being very clear we know we would be paying full price for office visits and are fine with that). Overall it has been a very eye opening and wonderful experience.
