Chicken Mothering and Roosters

Hey guys,
I was just wondering that if a chicken lays and hatches her own eggs will the other chickens attack her chicks, care for them, or just leave them alone. My other question is if my growing roosters reigns over 18 hens will he become aggressive towards me when I come to take care of them

It just depends on the other birds most of mine just leave the chicks alone unless they get a little to close but the mom hen usually chases any other birds away that get to close to her babies.
