Chicken "mutt" club!!!

Pics
Jealous Jealous Jealous... I want a frizzle or two so BAD!!! I think I'm projecting it on my two mutts. Would either of you take a look at my two and tell me if there is a possibility they are frizzle. they have some funky feathers

They look like frizzles.I am not a genetics genius and don't know the genetics lingo. So I will give you my version.Frizzle is a gene that makes the feathers curl.Any breed can have this gene. But in other countries such as the U.K. and Australia frizzle is a breed. Also you do not breed a frizzle to a frizzle=bad feathers. There are others on byc that could give you a better explanation.Hope this helps.

GA Boy Thanks for the info. I got these two a few weeks ago when they came running out of a goat barn with a unidentified brown hen two days after a tornado had hit and we were expecting snow. The man told me if I could catch them I could have them. I said I would never deal with chicks. I preferred getting pullets. Since I have two brooders going these to have a 2GL Wyandotts with them and another with 10 Silkie, Polish, and Bantams in it.

I have been to this farm several times and bought chickens, but never seen any frizzle. If he gave me fizzle he will not be happy. Although they would never have made it through the rough patch of weather we had, One of them still has a peck mark on its head. I believe I have a hen and roo and cant wait to breed them to my other chickens especially the EE's if they are Frizzle. I was afraid they where some type of Game Chickens and I would have to get rid of the roo. My entire family has gotten attached to the little boogers so that would be hard.

...I also said I wasn't going to breed any either. LOL

Thanks again,

GA Girl: Fannin Co
