I'll post some mutt chicken pictures in the spring! I'm going to try and breed my little D'uccle rooster with one of my Hubbard Golden Commets! Hahahaha! This should be interesting! These two (yoda and Lavern) are almost never apart!

A sixth chick hatched over the weekend, and it quickly became obvious that the daddy was our Easter Egger roo, Gryffindor. This makes two chicks so far that we know for sure are his. (Way to go, Gryffindor!)


There's Seis, the EE/bantam cochin mix, next to her* sibling, Cinco, who I believe is just plain ol' bantam cochin.

I look forward to seeing how she* matures.

(* could be a male. I dunno.)

I have new chicks again. wooo hooo get so eggcited, doesn't matter how often it happens it never fails to enchant me. The hatchling from last night has feathered feet already and has three dark stripes down its back and a dark V on head, some light grey fluff at base of rump and it's dark amber with hints of gold. Can't wait to see how it turns out! I guess it's a bit like human babies, you don't know which parent it's going to favour and which genetic traits will come out from past generations
