Alright y’all so I have a bit of a mystery on my hands. Or rather a weird situation that has some unusual answers that’s I’m not convinced about lol so I have six chickens in my backyard flock. Three of which are laying and two of them I’ve cracked open the eggs and the yolks appear to be fertilized. Now the thing is I don’t think I have a rooster. Nor does anyone on here think I do from pictures. I was also told about parthenogenesis I believe it’s called basically where they fertilize themselves. But I just wanted to post one more time to see if anyone thinks there is any chance I have a secret rooster. I’m especially paranoid about it because tomorrow is the last day I’d be able to rehome a potential rooster until spring. SO I am including pictures of my two suspects below. Again of the six, three are laying. Of the three that are not laying one has a two finger separation in the pelvis and is doing the squat. Also caught her in the nesting box for awhile today so I’m confident in her. That leaves the two in the pictures I’ll post. The one I’ve marked with a green X has also been doing the squat from time to time and pelvis is separated almost two fingers. Finally the red X, my main suspect has shown no signs of laying whatsoever! They were all bought at the same time and it’s nearly 22 weeks. So what does everyone think? I know I’ve posted some of these pics already and was told pullet but wanted to include all this information and see if anyone out there suspects I have a secret roo or if it’s just a coincidence with the egg yolks. Thanks!

Red X looks a little different, but could be male or dominant female. Some are tough to tell. I always say, if humans keep killing off cockerels, the chickens WILL evolve to hide their males to avoid extinction. Sorry I can't be more help. You could try wing-sexing him/her, or separating him/her from the flock and watch their reactions. Good luck!

do you have a neighbor that has roosters that free range? that is a possibility too visiting rangy rooster. as a kid for the longest time I thpought cows got pregnant on their own, as nobody close by had a bull, and no fences were knocked down, but yet the calf I had raised to calves herself, dang bull came from 5 miles away lmao
