Chicken Names!

Egghead?? (I love it!)

We named her Egghead because when she hatched she had some egg shell stuck on her head!

Oh, gosh, we have around 50 chickens (all named) so I'm just going to start with a few.

Group of 8, 7 week old chicks: Toast (Barnyard mix cockerel), Gorgonzola (Blue Orpington pullet), Winter (EE pullet), Alice (EE pullet), Mist (unknown breed pullet), Bear (EE pullet), Curly Fries (buff frizzle pullet), Gertrude (Cream Legbar pullet).

Bachelor roosters: Midnight (black and silver mix) and Sprinkles (lavender splash mix)

Former bachelor roosters (2 joined flock of 20-some hens and the rest joined the main flock): Donut (mottled silkie cochin), Orchid (black silkie cochin), and Kiwi (silver partridge silkie).

Chickens in "chicken hospital": Peep (3 year old salmon faverolle hen, one leg has become paralyzed), Storm (2 year old EE rooster, one leg is partially paralyzed, been like this for a year, the winter has been hard on him so we are giving him a break), Lil' Cherry (Green queen, looks almost exactly like a salmon faverolle but a light pink color and she has a peacomb. She just isn't doing very well, acts tired all the time, seems weak, poofed out)

We have had two groups of birds. The first group of hens went to a dear friend just recently because she had a Bobcat get into her coop that took out most of her birds. The coop was repaired to make it more like Fort Knox, so I need not worry about predators again.

My first flock names are as follows:
Barred Rocks: Diva, Delores and Dottie.
Minorca's: Uno, Dos, and Treys.
Production Reds: Lucy and Sister.

Our new flock names:
Barred Rocks: Chicka and Freida
Rhode Island Reds: Goldy and Gilda (I loved Gilda Radner)
Americana's (EE's): Chips and Salsa
Blue Australorp's: Fancy and Bella
Black Australorp's: Naida and Flor

The black Australorp's were named after people I used to work with.
