Have you checked out http://behindthename.com ? It's the best and most accurate name site I know of. If you find yourself fascinated with names, and spending hours on that site, you may be a name nerd!

I'm nerdy so all my chicken have noise-related names, because "chicken", "cock", "gallinaceous" all come from roots meaning "noisy" or "song".

The reasonings behind my current hens are on the other thread, so I'll list some future possible names here.

Female:
Carmen "song" in Latin
Calypso (after the musical style)
Shiri "song" in Hebrew
Aria "melody" in Latin
Chantal "song" in French
Lorelei (a German type of siren in myth)

Some great Biblical names I found today:

Female:
Babel (BAY-bel, after the tower...)
Neginah (ne-GUY-na) "stringed instrument"
Nehilah (nee-HIE-la) "flute"
Shema (SHEE-ma) "echo"

Male:
Ishi (ISH-ee) "salutation"
Omar (OH-mar) "talkative"
Tekoa (tee-KOH-ah) "sound of trumpets"
Zophar (ZOH-far) "chatterer"
