Good names.

I named my leghorn Foghorn after the cartoon chicken. Rowdy was so named because he pecks my shoes. Rocky because of Chicken Run. Lumpy because she is missing one wing and Teensy because she is the tiniest ancona chick. I am waiting for the other chicks to show personality before I name them.

That is how I name all my animals. I had a goat named Pebbles because that is what she left behind.

These are my birds Names. Most were named after famous people, but others their personality spoke for themselves.

SS Hamburg Rooster- Speedy(cause that boy can run!)
SS Hamburg Hen-Callie (it Just fit Her!)
Silver Pheonix Rooster- FuJi(Japanese for unparalleled)
Barred Rock Hen-Thelma(Cause we call them Prison chickens! he he he!)
New Hampshire Red Hen-Lucy(named after Lucille Ball, cause she is red Duh!)
Buff Rock Hen-Sandy (Cause she is sandy Colored)
Delaware Hen-Dolly (Named after Dolly Parton)
Delaware Hen-Marylin (named after Marylin Monroe)
Black Australorp Hen-Rosa(Named after Rosa Parks)
Black Australorp Hen-Aretha (Named after Aretha Franklin)
Ancona Hen-Farrah(Named after Farrah fawcett)
Ancona Hen-Faith(Just suited her, and started with an F)
Ancona Hen-Fae( Just suited her and Started with an F)

I am thinking of naming one of the RIR pullets Henrietta. Get it? HENrietta? LOL!! I once had a cat named SeeAyTee.

Awesome! I'll have to take those in to account... you know, my Siamese cat is also named Daisy (see site) and she's sweet too. Wonder what she'll think of the chicks!

DD wanted to name them all alice, but i convinced her to name them all, so we had alice pearl millicent gertrude sharon and ethel. pearl turned out to be a boy, and although DH tried to rename him paulie (think of the movie rocky) his name was Jerk Chicken (think Jamaican Jerk) so the boys get food names, (vindaloo and stew) and the girls have their dignified names, and we will name the meat birds as one (someone on another thread named them all elvis, and i thought i would die laughing.)

out of your names i LOVE denise! i am using that one....maybe on the meat birds? Zelda is also popular around here due to a deep (and hereditary) video game addiction.....find me a video game ABOUT chickens and oh the trouble i am in!!!!!!!

I had been naming mine but then thought, I don't know if I'm going to be able to eat something I name!

So I have Barred Rocks--Big Bertha, HennyPenny, ChickenLittle (yeah I know original

) I have Thelma & Louise but they turned out to be Theo & Louis and went to live elsewhere. In my 2nd group I only named 2. Rosie is a RIR. She's a bold little bugger. Tessie is my EC Black sex-link. The others stepped all over her when she was taking a dust bath in the pine bedding when she was a week old. She made it. 2 others didn't.

Hubby has named one RIR Butterscotch because she looks like our orange tabby (his baby) by that name.

I think from now on they are going to have names like, Fried, Nugget, Baked, and BBQed and so on.

Thats my animal kingdom and hope it stays this small! LOL
