Hello Everyone, Al from NJ here.
We are new to chickens and adopted 5 pullets which are about 5 weeks old now. Currently they are temporarily sharing my office with me as we wait for them to be coop ready. We have a decent sized fenced in back yard area which we've set up for them. My 2 young girls are very excited and love spending time with them now, as does my wife who is a nurse now, but went to college to be a livestock vet. So she's enjoying the little chicks as well.
We are currently making some modifications to our backyard to make it more chicken friendly, like extending a run, adding a play area and covered dust bath. Hopefully we'll be done this week.
When we are not hanging with our peeps, we enjoy restoring classic cars, music, and cooking. We won't be making any chicken dishes so no worries - these baby birds are pets and for eggs only! Looking forward to sharing and learning on here.
