I'll start off by introducing myself. My name is Lizz and I live in Cecil County Maryland. My husband and I just purchased 6 chicks about 2 weeks ago. We have been discussing it for while and finally just took the plunge! Thankfully my stepmother (in CT) is an extremely experienced chicken keeper, and I have a couple of local friends who also raise chickens. So we have some great experienced help, but we are still newbies!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We are new to owning our own chickens and just purchased them about 2 weeks ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We bought 6 chicks!

(3) What breeds do you have?

2 Rhode Island Red
2 Red Sex Link
2 ISA Brown

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google search, and then confirmed how great the site is with my stepmother

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

There are so many, but my personal main hobbies are WWII Reenacting, Crafting (including knitting, crocheting, papercrafts, and MUCH more), and I am an active member of my church.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Our family is myself, my husband, and two young boys (almost 4 and almost 6 years old). We also have 3 house cats. My husband is a professional firefighter and I am a stay at home mom. We were already interested in raising chickens and then our older son's kindergarten class had two chicks. He was so excited to learn about them and how to take care of them, so two weeks ago we took the plunge and purchased 6 chicks of our own. I am VERY excited about raising chickens both for the fresh eggs and for the experience of owning them. I've already learned so much from my stepmother, and she is absolutely my "go-to" resource, but it is so wonderful to have found this site as well. I have already learned a lot here, and look forward to learning more!! I'm sure I'll have questions as we go, but so great to know there is a place to come and chat with others!!

THANKS!!
Lizz
