Chicken Newbie

Hi, I am in the process of building my first coop and generally getting my backyard ready for a small flock this Spring. Excited to get all the advice and support for this chicken newbie! Suggestions on which breeds are best to start with. Also interested in members, from my area especially, sharing best local resources for obtaining chicks, supplies, etc.

Personally, I like Buff Orpingtons but Australorps would be a great choice too!

It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!
