Ello all!
My partner and l are new to raising chickens but both grew up in small towns where chickens felt just as much like our neighbors as their people.
We will be picking up our first 6 chicks in 2 weeks and have read-up, stocked up and prepared ourselves and the neighbors the best we can for our girls. We so excited to bring a fun bit our small town our childhoods to our now urban lives. We researched breeds for a good while, looking for personality, egg production and over all health/hardiness before selecting the chicks we did. I hope we chose wisely. We ended up choosing a Barred Rock, Blue Ameraucana, French Black Copper Maran, Easter Egger, Olive Egger and a Welsummer.
Looking forward to learning from this communities veterans, newbs and everyone in-between, as well as sharing our own triumphs and lessons.
Cheers to chickens!
Meg and Jess
