Hello All,
Has anyone heard of or using a night light? I read about this while looking for an automatic coop door. One door will eventually have as an option a dim light in the coop near the roost that will come on while the door is still open and stay on for a short time after closing. The purpose is to help the birds find their roost easier.
Thanks for any help,
Jim

That would probably be a good idea. However you wouldn't want it on all night. Chickens need a dark period, like all creatures evolving on a rotating planet.

The light would only stay on a few minutes. It would go off just after the door closes for the night. This is not the light you would program to come on for extending the laying during the winter. That I will not do as I thing the chickens need a rest during the winter.
