So I received my nipples in the mail today and added them to my 5gal gravity pvc waterer, I've seen them everywhere on this site!

They work when I press on them and don't leak at all!

I have 6 baby chicks and "showed" each one how to use it, but I'm not sure if they are actually using it, its only been 12 hours since I have installed it.

I haven't caught any of them using it yet

The question I have is: (I currently have them placed horizontal and they are about level with the birds) Should I have the nipples facing down (vertical) or horizontal like I have it now?

I can't really find it anywhere so any help is greatly appreciated!

I can take pics if you would like to see the set up!

Thanks
Preston

Have them facing down, or at least downhill at an angle. Chickens like to peck up when they drink as they are gravity drinkers, so it makes it much easier for them to swallow.

Good luck, I love ours!

I buy the nipples and attach to my own containers. Little buckets for little chicks, 5 gallons for bigger chickens and I have a few stuck in the botton of gallon jugs that I move around where needed.

Okay thank you, I will be changing them to vertical today or at a down slope, more or less, I have them coming out of pvc so it seems to be okay, I will take a picture!
