I agree, if you want to find out more, then having a necropsy would be the best way to get that information.
Some labs will not release the body back due to biosecurity reasons, you'd have to ask about that too.

LaFleche provided a good tutorial for necropsy, here's one I like, it has the organs labeled.
When dealing with a hen and you suspect reproductive problems, I'd start by looking in the abdomen, organs, etc. instead of starting at the head.
