Chicken number 2: Can anyone tell me if this gray headed silkie might be male or female?

This is the second chicken I picked out of the bunch. I felt sure that one of the pure white ones was female but she was LOUD (chickens not allowed here) so I took this little gray headed one instead. Sometimes I feel sure she's a she and other times she
has a rooster look about her esp. the tail. She doesn't act dominant at all and hardly takes notice of strange noises or other things around her (him).

Thanks very much for answering. I hope you are right! We love her/him already.

Not sure about those tail feathers . You might wait another week or two, if it's tail feathers get longer, it might be a male.
But, very small comb and wattles for being born in January. May lean more towards a hen.

pullet. her longish tail is just a side effect of being hatchery bred stock. hatcheries don't care how their birds look as long as they lay fertile eggs. same reason for her having pink skin instead of required black skin for silkies.

anyways seems you guys love her, hope this one really does turn out to be an egg layer.

I throw a rag out while the two were pecking around in the dirt. My black silkie, Harriet crouched under a bush but this one stuck its head up in the air and got very still. Definitely a sign that its a rooster right? So I did it again a little while later and they both put their heads up high.

Confused now.
